Joakim Pietras

Joakim Pietras studied English and linguistics at Lund University in his native Sweden. He moved to London in 1996 to enroll at London Film School, where he edited several award-winning short films. After graduating, he went on to do freelance work on feature films before joining Sam Sneade Editing in 2000, where he edited commercials and dramas that have gone on to win some of the most coveted prizes in the industry, including the Cannes Gold Lion. He worked with directors such as Jonathan Glazer, Allen Coulter and Dougal Wilson. Since his move in 2004 to Stockholm, where he set up his own company editing drama series and commercials, he has collaborated with directors such as Traktor, Adam Berg, Niclas Larsson and Martin Werner for brands like Volvo, IKEA, Audi, Magnum, and Finnair. In 2015, he became the first editor to win a Roy Award for his editing of Volvo’s campaign “A New Beginning” starring Avicii.
